Margret
- Margret
is receiving National ASIST’s membership updates tri monthly,
but they include members outside New England. Chapter members total
~178. Margret demonstrated the membership database, designed by
Lydia Evins on FilemakerPro. The db is flexible and looks good.
It contains all membership information that national has, including
SIGs and write-in fields for members’ specific expertise and
willingness to speak or write. The Chapter’s most accurate
membership information is coming from Beata’s annual membership
emails.
- Action
item:
- Margret
will recruit Membership Committee people, who will then brainstorm
ideas for recruiting new members via spring program.
- Previous
Action item:
- Margret
will email the program committee membership list for volunteers
to contact Simmons members graduating and pursue members who
aren’t renewing.
- Program
– Darcy
- The
Spring program, “It’s Not Just Google Anymore”
will be Monday, April 28 in the Media Lab Bartos Theater. We are
limiting the audience to 150 to avoid crowding. We will do more
membership marketing at spring program [see above].
- Darcy,
despite the eccentric migrations of the National ASIST server, has
posted a complete program description on the Chapter website at
http://www.asis.org/Chapters/neasis/pc/programs/20030428.html
- Beata
has publicized the $1000 student travel award widely. She could
use one more non-student volunteer for the jury. Contact Beata Panagopoulos
at beata_Panagopoulos@harvard.edu. So far we have had no submissions.
Submission deadline is April 4. The winner will be announced April
29 and the award presented at the Spring dinner, MIT Faculty Club,
Tuesday evening May 13th.
